Fletch introduces this weekend’s big games for the Firsts, Seconds, and Women’s XVs

FREE PROGRAMME HERE

First of all, welcome to the opposition; all teams are very welcome. I hope you enjoy the hospitality we have here this weekend.

This week on Saturday, we welcome Yorkie, the President of Warwickshire RFU. Yorkie is well into a tour across the region, meeting member clubs. This will be his second visit in a week, as he was one of many notable WRFU luminaries that attended the funeral of Sutton and WRFU legend Don Robbins on Tuesday. It was an honour to host Don’s funeral at SCRFC, and as a club, we put some money behind the bar so everyone could have a drink to remember him. Thanks to the family for leaving the flower display, which will last until the end of the weekend.

On the playing side, we are still going strong. I am sure everyone enjoyed the result last week when the First Team beat Veseyans away. This was a hard game on a challenging pitch, but the lads did us proud. This completes home and away wins against Veseyans and Spartans, giving the Boys in Green local bragging rights for the foreseeable future! We are now 13 points clear at the top of the league with a very healthy point difference. We must not be complacent but have already started to plan for next year based on the assumption we will go up!

The Second Team and women are also coming off good wins. The ladies had a great victory versus Boston at home, 24-15, and the Second Team won a tricky game versus Stourbridge. Let’s hope for a green sweep this weekend!

We have had some notable milestones in the last two weeks, with Dean Harper, Liam Hills, and Jack Wells all celebrating their 100 caps. This week, we have Ollie Hoole starting his First Team journey. For those who don’t know, Ollie is the son of Steve Hoole. We didn’t record the stats as much back in the day, but Stevie, I am sure, will have played over 100 times for SCRFC, a few of them alongside me. Good luck, Ollie! I am sure you will go on to eclipse the achievements of your father and have a great career with SCRFC.

Enjoy the day,

Fletch
